Our Favorite Pasta: Sweet & Spicy Sausage Pasta

Do you have a go-to recipe? One that you know by heart and always keep the ingredients on hand?
I have two go-to recipes. Both of them were taught to me by my mom :)

 {Recipe: Sweet & Spicy Sausage Pasta}

Ingredients:
-1 box shaped pasta of your choice
-2 cans of diced tomatoes
-Red pepper flakes, to taste
-2 garlic cloves
-1 pound sweet ground Italian sausage
-3+ tablespoons of AP flour
-1 cup heavy cream {or milk}
-wine, for the chef

Step 1: Brown the sausage with the garlic, salt and red pepper flakes.
{I like for my sausage to be in very little chunks and very crispy...but it's up to you!}

Step 2: Drain some of the grease and soak up the rest with your flour
{this picture grosses me out}

Step 3: Add in your diced tomatoes and heavy cream
 {almond milk actually works well here too if you want to reduce the fat content a bit}

Step 4: While your pasta cooks, let your sauce mixture bubble until it thickens a bit.
{add in more flour if you think your sauce is too thin, but if you do this be sure to check the flavor and add in more garlic/red pepper/salt/etc if needed}

Place in your favorite serving bowl, top with fresh parm and herbs, serve!

Bon Appetit!

This pasta is so quick and easy, I love it for that. But I also love it for its deep flavor and texture combination. The little tomato bits stay juicy and plump, the sausage has a kick of sweet and spicy and the sauce sticks to the fun shaped noodles so well. It's a dish you will begin to dream about.

I hope this becomes one of your go-to recipes too! Let me know what you think

Bon Appetit!

P.S. will post our other go-to recipe someday soon...hint, its also sweet & spicy!

  1. I usually use fun-shaped noodles when I make pasta because my kids really enjoy their food if they see that it’s cute and fascinating. This makes them want to eat more. Well, your sweet and spicy sausage pasta looks yummy. It’s not the typical pasta dish because you added a twist to it! ;) The ingredients will surely create a slightly sweet, spicy, and savory taste.
