cozy bedrooms

I had a hard time getting out of my cozy bed this morning. I can't remember the last time I slept in and I am craving that extra hour or two!

I love my bedroom- but also loving these bedrooms!! {they have been added to the hopes & dreams file for sure!}

The brick wall and chandelier make for the perfect blend of masculinity and femininity. This room is beautiful

Doesn't this nook of a bedroom just look fun!

I love how rustic and contemporary this is. The headboard is extravagant but so organic and the bold patterns on the bed update the room to a classic and chic level.

So cute and boho. This is similar to my bedrooms style now, kinda. I love all of the pillows and the comforter. Cute

Oranges, reds, blues, upholstered stools, white comforter with thin trim, trellis print, big stripes, cozy lighting, ikat funky bright pillow. If this doesn't scream "amanda macy" I don't know what does. I love this room and how "adult" it looks. :)

Is it bedtime yet? :) amc

pretty style

I love clothes, I love shopping, I am by no means a fashionista. On a daily basis I try to at least look decent and somewhat aware of what is going on in the world of fashion.

Enough about me: please meet the most stylish little lady that I have recently discovered... Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific Blog

She is precious and has killer style! No one can layer like this girl, and trust me, I am hardly the first one to boast about her amazingness. My favorite, Matchbook Mag, just wrote about her and she is constantly being mentioned by the best of the best in the industry.

Here are just a couple of reasons why:

Due to my suburban roots, I love a good chain retailer. And the sister brand to Gap and Banana Republic, Piperlime, is just the ticket for me! Not only do they carry great brands, introduce up-and-coming lines, rock major sales and have the one-and-only Rachel Zoe {die!} on their team...they also have an "outfit idea" page on their site.
Hello, inspiration:

Seems that I have a love for skinny pants, flowy tops, blazers, bright colors and stripes, huh?

Happy outfitting! :) amc

{p.s. i am wearing red cigarette pants today! whoa! love em- maybe I'll snap a pic}

baby disease

I have this disease....it's known as "Hopes & Dreams." It can be defined by an obsession over one or more of the following: babies, kids, weddings, houses, marriage, etc. Beware this disease causes lots of squeels and smiles and giggles {and endless hours lost combing the internet looking at blogs}!

Today I caught the babies/kids strain....
{simply meaning i think they are cute- that's all. don't let your mind wander. gah.}

 How could you NOT love this stuff though! Wouldn't a little boy be so precious in this outfit?! All of the items are from j.crew's crewcuts line. Somehow I landed on this interview on Jenny Cooper- the creative genius/designer behind the too cute line.

and wouldn't this outfit be perfection for a little spunky girl attending a summer wedding! it is also from jcrew crewcuts

and for the more casual kiddo- one of my favorite bloggers Fly Through Our Window produces this super adorable line called Honey Bees Tees

Congrats to my wonderful friend Maggie, who will be a mommy soon! Can't wait to dress that little bundle up!

Let the squeels, smiles and giggles begin! :) amc
{p.s. let it be known that i do not want a baby right now or for the next 5+ years for that matter}

filling the unforgiving moment

Today is a good day for this. I saw this poem a couple of weeks ago on the Miss Magnolia blog {which is an awesome blog created by a wonderful sorority sister of mine} and I have been dying to share it on my blog since then. Today is the day to share!

I think this poem is absolutely art in the form of words. I adore it and it's wisdom.
Enjoy:

'If--'
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling, 1865-1936
I know that life is changing all of the time and we {our soul and mindset and heart} are changing as well. If you start to think about it too much, it can really be scary and daunting. This poem reminds me of all of the changes, but also of all of the crappy things that we have to go through in life. I love how the poem doesn't ignore the issues that we will face, but instead greets them at the door and responds with the up-most positivity. This poem provides me with reason and wisdom and also gives me a deep feeling of excitement and inspiration for life.
Throughout all of the change and crud that is constant and inevitable, I must remind myself of the words above and to never lose sight of who "Amanda Macy" really is, what her "hopes & dreams" are {though those may change, which is completely okay} and what the "right way" is to carry myself throughout my minutes.
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it

hippie love

My mom often tells me that she wishes she were still a flower child {not the wedding kind}, or something like that. She is a hippie in her own way- saving the world, wearing flowy skirts, her long wavy blonde hair, planting flowers, looking for shapes in the clouds {uhh}, always telling me that everything will turn out just great. Love my hippie-ish mom.

There is also another hippie in my life- she is one of my best friends and my college roommate and she is wonderful. She is a different kind of hippie... very artsy, super on trend with fashion, has a ferret {is that a hippie thing?! ha} and has an open, free-spirited mind. She also started a blog today!!! {hmm... i wonder who forced her hand to do that...}

pretty kelley!

her blog!I am so excited to read it! I know it'll be full of fashion and art and pics of her and her adoring boyfriend.

So...speaking of hippies.... I love Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen! And I don't know how this has happened but I have failed to mention them in any blogs so far. I feel awful. I am a bad member of their fan club. :( I absolutely grew up with them {err Michelle Tanner really; then MK&A} and have loyally followed them throughout the years. They are complete icons to me for so many reasons and if you don't already own their book- you gotta get it.
This is not only my all time favorite photograph in the world. But it is obviously my favorite photo of Ashley Olsen. She looks precious to boot {the pic was originally in Harper's maybe, but it is in their book too}

And how freaking cute is Mary Kate! I love everything about her in this spread- the hair, the  make-up, the clothes. She rocks. {and i want to be an Indian for Halloween now}

One more thing, check out these INCREDIBLE friendship bracelets!!!
insane, right!?!?! gorgeous!!!
{and like $400+!! whoa, that's a good friend}

 so beautiful! you can buy me one at the DolorisPetunia Etsy store. thank you in advance ;)

peace, love and happiness  :) amc

time to cook

This weekend Josh was telling a cute little story about how I used to cook for him all of the time and how now… I never do. Yeah, real cute story…right?! Not so much.

It really is sad though! Cooking is one of my all time favorite things! Why have I stopped??? I am totally that girl that finds chopping garlic, sautéing meat and roasting veggies very relaxing and therapeutic. Honest!

So, if it wasn’t enough that Josh has reminded me {and a large group of our friends that were listening…urgh}, my daily {and FABULOUS} emails from The Pioneer Woman and my pinterest “yumminess” board have all slapped me in the face and reminded me “Woman! You best get back in that kitchen!”

Here are some dishes that I hope to whip up soon {p.s. carb alert!}:

TPW Lemon Pasta: 2 things that I cannot get enough of!!!!!

lookin fresh- veggie crepe

zucchini and feta appetizer- for the next party!

more TPW pasta! I've actually made this before {valentines day 2011}- it's a winner! gotta do it again!

i can always be sold on a sweet salmon dish

i told you i like pasta! this yummy looking TPW red pepper pasta has been on my to-do list for much too long

Time for me to get into the kitchen!
I hope to report back someday soon that I have been cooking again

Good Morning!
This is how I feel right now {and really, most always!}. Life is amazing! I am so very blessed with so much wonderfulness in my life! {thank you God!}

We went to Merri Ellen and Harvey's wedding last night- the ceremony was beautiful and the reception was super perfect! I will share pics of it asap.  Their colors were {i think...} navy and white.

I love the color white so much and i just bought some matchstick jcrew white jeans the other day- already obsessing over them! I love white outfits :)

wedding dresses

This weekend Josh and I are in Dublin, GA for Merri Ellen & Harvey's wedding. They are such a kind couple and invited us to the rehearsal dinner too. It was a wonderful night and I am so excited for the ceremony and reception tonight

I love weddings {hopes & dreams!} and wedding gowns, here are some of my favorites!

 Dylan Lauren, daughter of Ralph Lauren. I love her dress and the story behind it- her daddy made it for her! So sweet!

So precious
{anthropologie or jcrew...i cant remember, i've had it saved forever}

Pippa!!! I love her and every single outfit she wears. Yes, this is technically is a bridesmaids dress- but whatever it would make a gorgeous bridal gown. gorgeous

{pretend that i cropped out mr 98 degrees}
i love jessica's gown, it is sooo bridally perfect to me. she was a perfect bride!

Looking forward to seeing Merri Ellen's dress, I know she will be stunning!

birthday candles & bocce ball

Finally! Josh's 30th birthday celebration has been planned! I feel awful but typically around the big markets {January and July} I have trouble seeing past the last day of that market. So for the past 6 months or so that I have spent planning the July Market events, anything occurring past July 18th hasn't registered as "real" in my book. I am terrible. Bad Amanda.

So this morning after tackling a plan-the-party-anxiety-attack and rip-your-hair-out-traffic, the party has finally been planned! Yay!

I am hosting an outdoor, bocce ball playing, beer drinking, enjoying the summer, pimento cheese spreading, makers mark out of mason jar sipping, afternoon summer birthday party to celebrate 30 years of Joshua at Empire State South

The cute invite compliments of Paperless Post {where fake stamps actually cost real money...weird & lame}

You all are invited! Please come and help me cheers to the BEST BOYFRIEND EVER!
{seriously, you are invited, see you there!}

can't wait!

This girl also likes her own Marlboro Man :) who by the way was an absolute dreamboat {yea, i just said that} during Market. He just keeps getting nicer and sweeter and funnier and more caring and hotter by the minute. I'm giddy!
